For the past 10 days, our Upper Elementary students have mobilized to support Ukraine by organizing a supply drive. The students coordinated the drive with the AlphaMinds Academy, an academic enrichment program in Jersey City founded by Anna Novosyolok, an immigrant from Ukraine. Donations of non-perishable food, hygiene products, medical supplies, and more were sorted by students and volunteer parents who dropped off two SUVs packed with supplies to the Ukrainian Community Center in Jersey City, where the items are shipped to Ukraine.
Although a fundraising campaign would have been easier, it was important for the students to run a supply collection drive, physically see the impact of getting humanitarian goods, and see how they could help make a difference halfway around the world. Even though the physical supply drive has concluded, the students continue to direct parents to two additional ways to give online.
While the school’s supply drive is over, there are still many ways you can help:
Monetary Donations: For those who wish to give monetary donations for humanitarian aid and medical supplies, we have identified an organization with the help of one of our parents for anyone who prefers to provide financial assistance: https://razomforukraine.org/
Purchasing Supplies Online: If you choose to donate supplies directly through Amazon, please view the wish list here. You can order the supplies through Amazon, and a supply collection center in Brooklyn will receive the supplies, package them, and route them directly to those in need in Ukraine.
Thank you to the students, staff, and parent volunteers that supported our students and their supply drive.
