Hudson Montessori Has Strong Showing at 2023 Billion Oyster Project Symposium

Students from our Elementary and Middle School STEAM program joined over 400 students for this year’s Billion Oyster Project Symposium. The Billion Oyster Project holds a symposium each June where local students present research on oysters and other species of the New York Harbor. We give kudos to each student who submitted projects this year and are excited to see how their research will evolve over the next year. Five projects from our school received exemplary project awards.

Our Elementary and Middle School STEAM program partners each year with local organizations that support conservation and revitalization in the local community. Our school has worked alongside the Billion Oyster Project for several years to support oyster repopulation in the New York Harbor.

Pollution and overfishing caused the oyster population to dwindle to dangerously low levels. Since 2014, the Billion Oyster Project has installed over 50 million oysters in New York’s harbors and hopes to reach one billion by 2035 with the community’s help.

Hudson Montessori School uses an interdisciplinary, theme-based learning approach to education, fostering the love for learning by using the Montessori philosophy and remembering to have fun in the process! Our school serves children aged 2 to eighth grade. Contact us to learn more about us and our admissions process.
