Hudson Montessori Staff 2017-2018
Ms. Jolly has her Montessori teaching credential for Early Childhood from American Montessori Society (AMS). She has taught in Jersey City schools for over 15 years and is certified in New Jersey to teach kindergarten through eighth grade. Ms. Jolly holds an MBA in Finance and a Master’s in Accounting.
Ms. Gina joined Hudson Montessori in 2015 after heading three Montessori schools in Delaware, Ohio and New York over the past 23 years. She has a Master of Instruction, Curriculum Design for Young Children, and earned her Bachelor’s in Education. She has over 35 years of experience working with schools. Ms. Gina believes in nurturing strong school communities and will be instrumental in guiding our school’s growth in coming years.
Ms. Susan has a Master of Education and Montessori certification from Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) for Early Childhood and Elementary. Ms. Susan holds the New Jersey alternate route certification for K-5. She has over 35 years of experience in teaching 2½ to 10 year olds in Montessori schools. She recently completed a course, the Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI), to train teachers in reading screening/assessment. Ms. Susan will begin her sixth year with the school.
Ms. Fumi has been with Hudson Montessori since the school started in 2009. She has her Montessori certification for Infant to Toddler from the American Montessori Society. Ms. Fumi is our lead teacher for the Rosy Red Toddler classroom and has been the Head of the Toddler program for the last four years. Ms. Fumi holds degrees in English Linguistics and Japanese as a Second Language. She taught Japanese in Germany for four years.
Ms. Francisca holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Far Eastern University in the Philippines and also holds a Montessori Certificate from the NAMC (North America Montessori Center) 2-6 year olds. She was a teacher in private schools in the Philippines for 24 years prior to coming to USA where she began her career as a Montessori educator. She has been working for various Montessori Schools for the past 18 years in the U.S., 15 of them as a Head Teacher. She will be the Lead Teacher in the Orange Blossom Toddler classroom this year.
Ms. Anjelica is working towards her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She has worked at the University Settlement House in New York City as an Art Specialist and Assistant Group Leader. Ms. Anjelica worked at the International School in Abu Dhabi, UAE, teaching English and Math to Kindergarten students, and then at Stepping Stones Montessori in Abu Dhabi as a Kindergarten teacher. This is her third year at Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Eden holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She has been a teacher in pre-school to high school in the Philippines, teaching English, Christian Education and Home Economics for over five years. She obtained training from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Child Development and Dealing with Children and Youth at Risk. She has been working with children and families for the past 25 years. Her expertise is in program development and implementation. This is her second year at Hudson Montessori.
Ms. Isidra graduated from Notre Dame of Dadiangas College with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, majoring in Banking and Finance. She received her Montessori Certification in 2009 from the NAMC (North America Montessori Center) 2-6 year olds. She has nine years of experience working at various Montessori schools in New Jersey.
Ms. Lauren holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and American Studies from Saint Peter’s University. She has over four years of experience working with children ranging from infants to high school students as an assistant and substitute teacher. Ms. Lauren is in the process of obtaining her New Jersey Teaching Certification. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Bridge Primary Program
Ms. Cheyla is a graduate of New Jersey City University, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She has over six years of teaching experience working with young children ranging from the age of 2 months to 6 years. Ms. Cheyla is fluent in Spanish and has a passion for teaching creatively through arts and technology. She finished her course work in Montessori training (AMS) from Princeton Center for Teachers Education (PCTE) this summer.
Ms. Yuliya has her Bachelor’s degree from Moscow State Linguistic University in Russia. She holds an AMI certification from The Montessori Training Center of Saint Louis, Missouri. Ms. Yuliya previously worked as a teacher at Montessori schools in Brooklyn, New York and Warsaw, Poland, and in the corporate sector in Moscow. She is fluent in English and Russian, and conversational in Polish. Ms. Yuliya has eight years of teaching experience and this is her third year with us.
Ms. Lesly has her Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Hudson County Community College. She has been a Teacher Assistant for three years and has been working with children of ages 4 weeks through 10 years old. Ms. Lesly is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from New Jersey City University. She is fluent in Spanish. Ms. Lesly believes that being compassionate and caring is the way to teaching young children. She has been with Hudson Montessori School since 2016.
Ms. Denise graduated Summa Cum Laude from Caldwell University with a B.A. in Psychology. She obtained her International Montessori Teaching Diploma, Preschool/Kindergarten programs, from the North American Montessori Center. Ms. Denise is a loving, caring and passionate Montessori directress with more than 17 years of experience working with children and families, out of which 13 have been in a Montessori environment. In addition to teaching in both traditional and Montessori environments, she created a Spanish Program for young children that was incorporated in the schools where she worked. This is Ms. Denise’s fourth year with Hudson Montessori.
Ms. Mariana graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology. She realized her true passion was working with children and soon earned her Early Childhood Certification (AMS) from Maitland Montessori in Orlando, Florida. Ms. Mariana has been working with children for nine years. Ms. Mariana has also worked with special needs children. This is her second year at Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Nancy holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and is a few credits short of her Master’s in Early Childhood Education. She received her Montessori Certification (AMS) in Early Childhood from Princeton Center for Teacher Education (PCTE) and has been teaching in Montessori schools for the past nine years. Prior to that, she worked at AT&T in Organizational Management (Process and Quality). Ms. Nancy has two grown children and a 13 year old grandchild who has been in a Montessori school since the age of four.
Ms. Nirali holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from University of Mumbai, India. She obtained her Montessori Primary Diploma (ages 2½ to 6) from Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and her Lower Elementary Diploma (ages 6 to 9) from North American Montessori Center (NAMC). She has four years of experience working as a Montessori teacher in Primary level. She believes each child embodies a unique and wonderful spirit. Her aspiration is to see children grow into adults who are independent, responsible and compassionate innovators.
Ms. Samira holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and has her Early Childhood Education Montessori Certification (AMS) from Princeton Center for Teacher Education. She has worked with children from preschool through middle school for many years. This is her third year with Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Shoni holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Monroe College and earned her Montessori Education diploma in London. She has taught in three countries and has seven years of experience working in a Montessori environment. Originally from Barbados, Ms. Shoni enjoys working with the Primary children who are emerging in their skills. She also develops a number of her own original materials for use in her classroom. This is her third year at Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Sumaira is an AMS trained teacher with over six years of experience in the Montessori classroom. She has previously taught as a Lead Teacher in Dubai, UAE at a British Curriculum school where she was privileged to incorporate the Montessori Method in her classroom. She has also taught in a Montessori School in New York City as a co-lead teacher. Her passion for Montessori drives her to nurture and educate young children while providing an exciting experience that will meet each child’s individual needs.
Ms. Tia has her Montessori Certification (AMS) for Early Childhood from Princeton Center for Teacher Education. She holds a Master’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Behavioral Applications, from Queens College, New York. She previously worked in a school in Jersey City, which uses the Reggio Emilia approach to education. Ms. Tia is trained in Applied Behavior Analysis for educating children with developmental disorders, including autism. Ms. Tia is conversational in French, and fluent in Finnish and Swedish. She has been with Hudson Montessori School for five years.
Ms. Alia has her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Early Childhood Education from New Jersey City University. Ms. Alia initially started working with Hudson Montessori in our Summer Program and is now returning to Hudson Montessori for her sixth school year. Ms. Alia continues to work as a teacher in our Summer Camp and in the aftercare program.
Ms. Caridad graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in English Literature and minors in Italian Literature and Human Resources Management. She studied abroad in Italy for a year. Her passion for the field of education brought her to Hudson Montessori School, where she will be starting her fourth year as an assistant teacher.
Ms. Hui holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Beijing Foreign Studies University. She quickly realized that her passion was to educate young children which lead her to Boston College, where she graduated with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught Pre-K for six months in a school in Boston before coming to New York to pursue AMS Montessori Certification. She has finished her course work in Montessori Certification (AMS) from Westside Montessori in New York this summer. She is also fluent in Mandarin and English.
Ms. Labiba has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in English Literature from Dhaka University in Bangladesh and an Associate Degree in English from Limestone College in South Carolina. She taught as an assistant in Children’s Montessori School in South Carolina for 7 years. Ms. Labiba taught as a Head Teacher in Adlerian Child Care in South Carolina for 6 years. She has been working for various child care centers in Jersey City prior to joining Hudson Montessori School this year.
Ms. Mahrukh is a graduate of McNair Academic High School and is currently studying Psychology and Children Development at Rutgers University. She hopes to be a school counselor and believes that working in a Montessori school will help her become well-rounded in the educational environment. Ms. Mahrukh has worked in our aftercare programs, as a teacher in our Summer Camp and is returning for her fourth year as an assistant teacher.
Ms. Mareme graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hudson County Community College with an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education. She also worked for a private school in Jersey City for two years as an Assistant Teacher in the preschool program. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood at Saint Peter’s University. Ms. Mareme is also bilingual, speaking French and English fluently.
Ms. Mariah graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from New Jersey City University. She has studied abroad in England, France and Greece and is currently pursuing a Secondary Education certificate at NJCU. Ms. Mariah has worked with children in preschool, middle school and high school. She previously worked in a private school in Jersey City and has also substituted in elementary and middle schools in Hudson County. This is her second year with Hudson Montessori.
Ms. Marinela has a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy with a minor in Early Childhood Education from New Jersey City University. She has experience as a lead teacher in preschools and as an assistant teacher prior to that. Ms. Mari has also worked at a public elementary school in Jersey City as an in-class tutor for the America Reads Program and for the after school program. Her most recent experience before joining Hudson Montessori School was at a therapy clinic for children with learning disabilities as a group therapist assistant and as an administrative assistant.
Ms. Melissa P. is working towards her Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Services. She has eight years of experience working in Montessori schools. Ms. Melissa worked as an Assistant Teacher in both Toddler and Primary classrooms at Lakes Hills Montessori in Tulsa, Oklahoma and as an Assistant Director at King Arthur Montessori in Carrollton, Texas. She is pursuing her AMS Montessori Certification.
Ms. Nivedita holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Mumbai, India. She worked with ANZ Grindlays Bank and Shipping Company and, for the last five years, with a Jersey City performing arts company. She has finished her course work in Montessori Certification (AMS) from Westside Montessori in New York this summer. She begins her sixth year with us as an assistant teacher.
Ms. Gina A. has a Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Graphic Design from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She has Lower Elementary AMS certification from Princeton Center for Teacher Education (PCTE). For the past four years, Ms. Gina has been a Montessori Lower Elementary lead teacher and has worked for three years in the Upper Elementary program. Ms. Gina began her primary education as a Montessori student herself and is excited to be joining us as a co-teacher in one of our Lower Elementary classrooms.
Ms. Grace K. received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Seton Hall University. She has been part of the Montessori community for 14 years, first as a parent, and then teaching, assisting, and consulting with Montessori schools for 12 years. Ms. Grace earned her Montessori Elementary certification (AMS) from Princeton Center for Teacher Education. Her passion is creating successful academic experiences for her students. She is very excited to join the Hudson Montessori community this school year.
Ms. Shannon earned her Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education through a scholarship to Hudson County Community College. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at New Jersey City University, double-majoring in Early Childhood Education and Women’s and Gender Studies. Ms. Shannon has completed her course work in AMS certification for Lower Elementary at Princeton Center for Teacher Education (PCTE). This is her third year in our Lower Elementary Program.
Ms. Stacey graduated from American University with a BA in Art History and a minor in Fine Arts. She has been teaching for more than 13 years. Her teaching experience has been in both public and private school settings. She has worked with various ages in traditional education as well as in Montessori. Ms. Stacey was trained at Princeton Center for Teacher Education and is certified in ages 3-11. She is also a Field Consultant for the PCTE training program and holds the New Jersey Alternate Route Certification – K-6. She has been trained in the Model United Nations Program for children. This is her fourth year at Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Adinah graduated cum laude from Stony Brook University with a BA in Political Science and Public Policy. She was the social media director during a political campaign as an intern with a Philippine-American organization. Ms. Adinah is also a singer who has taught voice lessons to children in New York City. She completed her course work in AMS certification for Lower Elementary at Princeton Center for Teachers Education (PCTE) this summer. This is her third year at Hudson Montessori School.
Mr. Jorge holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and has seven years of teaching experience as Lead Teacher and Co-Teacher. Mr. Jorge has worked with children in many different educational settings and environments. He holds the New Jersey Alternate Route Certification for K-5. Additionally, he has self-published a children’s book and is working on another. He also creates a variety of artwork using a number of techniques, such as pyrography. This is his seventh year at Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Nicole holds a Master of Science Degree in General and Special Education from Touro College in New York City and has been working with young children for over 13 years. A successful children’s artist, she has worked with The Art Studio NY, building their early childhood and school age curriculum for over four years. She has experience across a wide variety of curricula and has worked in both private and public school settings. Ms. Nicole is also a successful makeup artist and her work has been in magazines both online and print, in addition to working with the most well-known brands currently in existence. Her specialty is working with mixed media and unconventional materials in new ways.
Ms. Lucrecia has a Bachelor’s in Translation from her native country, Peru. She is working towards her Master’s degree in Spanish. She has worked professionally for the Peruvian Air Force, translating from Spanish to French and vice versa. She was drawn to work with children and has over 20 years’ experience teaching Spanish to Toddlers and Elementary and High School students and adults.
Ms. Julissa is a New York based musician and Teaching Artist with over 15 years of experience. Her forte is drumming, percussion and voice. She believes music is the “key of life” and she is passionate about sharing the process of creating organized sound. Ms. Julissa holds a Bachelor’s in Marketing and Communications.
Science & Technology
Ms. Michelle V. continues her role as STEAM coordinator for Hudson Montessori School. Her background includes a Master’s Degree in Microbiology and certifications for Primary Montessori Teaching, Computer Programming and Applications, and a Level I Credential for Montessori Applied to Children at Risk for Learning Differences (MACAR). She has also been trained in the Model United Nations Program for children. She worked at the National Institute of Oceanography in Goa, India, Sanofi Aventis Pharmaceuticals and was a researcher at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Ms. Michelle begins her seventh year with Hudson Montessori.
Ms. Grace S. is a certified K-8 education teacher who was employed by the Jersey City District Public Schools for eight years. Prior to joining Hudson Montessori, she was an Educational Technology, Math and Science teacher for middle school students. She holds a Master’s degree in Supervision and Administration in Education. In addition,
she was a Lego Robotics coach for many years and competed along with her students in statewide competitions. This is her fourth year working with our school implementing the STEAM curriculum. Ms. Grace has also been working these past summers as a teacher and camp coordinator in our Summer Maker’s Camp.
Ms. Karen holds a Master’s degree in Zoology from Karnatak University, Dharwad, India. She worked at Thomson Reuters as an Associate Research Analyst and is really passionate about science. Ms. Karen looks forward to bringing her enthusiasm and love for learning to the children of Hudson Montessori School. This is her second year at Hudson Montessori School.
Tennis (ages 6 and up)
Mr. Jim is a certified PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) Instructor, ICI Certified Coach, and USTA rated 4.5/5.0 player, who has been involved in the tennis world for over 20 years. Educated in a variety of teaching methods both modern and traditional, Mr. Jim brings the experience to provide a singular teaching style that helps students learn and improve as quickly as possible. Mr. Jim has the knowledge and experience to create a lifelong love for tennis in our children.
Mr. Jim, who has an Etcheberry Certification for strength conditioning and movement, and who has been a USPTR (Professional Tennis Registry) instructor since 2003, will be holding PE classes for our Bridge Primary and Primary children. His years of experience, including five as an elementary school teacher, will help our children stay healthy and fit, especially during the winter months when outdoor activities are limited.
Ms. Maki has been with Hudson Montessori since the school started in 2009. She worked as an Assistant Teacher in the Toddler and Primary programs before moving to the office to manage the daily operations of our school. She is also our Director of Admissions. Ms. Maki holds a BA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and worked as an Administrative Assistant in New York City.
Ms. Vanessa has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from New Jersey City University and Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Capella University. She has worked in the education field for over ten years. Ms. Vanessa has five years of experience as a teacher as well as an extensive background in office management in a school environment. She has tremendous passion working with children. This is her second year at Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Yani is a nursing graduate from Trinitas School of Nursing. She holds a Bachelor of Science as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing through Chamberlain University. She has completed clinical work at Robert Wood Johnson Children’s Specialized Hospital and is immensely passionate about providing nursing care to children. Ms. Yani is an active member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and is currently completing her Master of Nursing (FNP). This is her second year working with Hudson Montessori.

Ms. Alia and Ms. Anjelica supervise After Care Program.
Ms. Danuta works in the After Care Program at Hudson Montessori. She is bi-lingual in English and Polish and has been working with young children for the last eight years. This is Ms. Danuta’s seventh year at Hudson Montessori School.
