Hudson Montessori Staff 2018-2019
Ms. Jolly has her Montessori teaching credential for Early Childhood from American Montessori Society (AMS). She has taught in Jersey City schools for over 15 years and is certified in New Jersey to teach kindergarten through eighth grade. Ms. Jolly holds an MBA in Finance and a Master’s in Accounting.
Ms. Gina joined Hudson Montessori in 2015 after heading three Montessori schools in Delaware, Ohio and New York over the past 24 years. She has a Master of Instruction, Curriculum Design for Young Children, and earned her Bachelor’s in Education. She has over 35 years of experience working with schools. Ms. Gina believes in nurturing strong school communities and will be instrumental in guiding our school’s growth in coming years.
Ms. Susan has a Master of Education and Montessori certification from Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) for Early Childhood and Elementary. Ms. Susan holds the New Jersey alternate route certification for K-5. She has over 35 years of experience in teaching 2½ to 10 year olds in Montessori schools. She recently completed a course, the Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI), to train teachers in reading screening/assessment. Ms. Susan will begin her eighth year with the school.
Ms. Maki has been with Hudson Montessori since the school started in 2009. She worked as an Assistant Teacher in the Toddler and Primary programs before moving to the office in 2011 to manage the daily operations of our school. She has been our Admissions Director for the past 3 years. Ms. Maki holds a BA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
Ms. Vanessa has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from New Jersey City University and Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Capella University. She has worked in the education field for over ten years. Ms. Vanessa has five years of experience as a teacher as well as an extensive background in office management in a school environment. She has tremendous passion working with children. This is her third year at Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Fumi has been with Hudson Montessori since the school started in 2009. She has her Montessori certification for Infant to Toddler from the American Montessori Society. Ms. Fumi is our lead teacher for the Rosy Red Toddler classroom and has been the Head of the Toddler program for the last six years. Ms. Fumi holds degrees in English Linguistics and Japanese as a Second Language. She taught Japanese in Germany for five years.
Ms. Lauren holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and American Studies from Saint Peter’s University. She has over four years of experience working with children ranging from infants to high school students as an assistant and substitute teacher. Ms. Lauren has her New Jersey Teaching Certification and is in the process of completing her Montessori Certification from West Side Montessori in New York. She is bilingual in English and Spanish. She will be co-leading the Toddler Program with Ms. Fumi.
Ms. Anjelica is working towards her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She has worked at the University Settlement House in New York City as an Art Specialist and Assistant Group Leader. Ms. Anjelica worked at the International School in Abu Dhabi, UAE, teaching English and Math to Kindergarten students, and then at Stepping Stones Montessori in Abu Dhabi as a Kindergarten teacher. This is her fourth year at Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Eden holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She has been a teacher in preschool through high school in the Philippines, teaching English, Christian Education and Home Economics for over five years. She obtained training from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Child Development and Dealing with Children and Youth at Risk. She has been working with children and families for the past 25 years. Her expertise is in program development and implementation. This is her third year at Hudson Montessori.
Ms. Isidra graduated from Notre Dame of Dadiangas College with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, majoring in Banking and Finance. She received her Montessori Certification in 2009 from the NAMC (North American Montessori Center) for 2-6 year old children. She has ten years of experience working at various Montessori schools in New Jersey.
Ms. Rashida has her certification in Early Childhood from Treehouse Institute in India. She has several years of experience working with young children as a Pre-K teacher. Ms. Rashida has also completed training in phonics from a UK based institute. This is her first year at Hudson Montessori School.
Bridge Primary Program
Ms. Cheyla is a graduate of New Jersey City University, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She has over six years of teaching experience working with young children ranging from the age of 2 months to 6 years. Ms. Cheyla is fluent in Spanish and has a passion for teaching creatively through arts and technology. She obtained her Montessori Certification (AMS) in Early Childhood from Princeton Center for Teachers Education (PCTE).
Ms. Lesly has her Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She has been a Teacher Assistant for three years and has worked with children as young as 4 weeks old through 10 years old. Ms. Lesly is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from New Jersey City University. She is also fluent in Spanish. Ms. Lesly is compassionate and caring which makes her a great fit for our Sunny Yellow program.
Ms. Labiba has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in English Literature from Dhaka University in Bangladesh and an Associate Degree in English from Limestone College in South Carolina. She taught as an assistant in Children’s Montessori School in South Carolina for 7 years and as a Head Teacher in Adlerian Child Care in South Carolina for 6 years. This is her second year at Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Manchu graduated from the University of Madras with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and also obtained Montessori Early Childhood certifications (ages 2½ to 6) from AMI and AMS. She has over 14 years of experience working as a Lead Teacher in Montessori schools throughout New Jersey. Over the years, Ms. Manchu has also presented Parent Education workshops and has trained new teachers and assistants. She believes that each child is unique and has great potential to achieve their goals.
Ms. Mareme graduated Summa Cum Laude with an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education. She worked for a private school in Jersey City for two years as an Assistant Teacher in a preschool program. She has a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood from Saint Peter’s University. Ms. Mareme is bilingual, speaking French and English fluently. Ms. Mareme has completed her coursework for her Montessori certification and is working as a co-lead this year.
Ms. Nancy holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and is a few credits short of her Master’s in Early Childhood Education. She received her Montessori Certification (AMS) in Early Childhood from Princeton Center for Teacher Education (PCTE) and has been teaching in Montessori schools for the past 11 years. She has been a field consultant for West Side Montessori School for the past 3 years and has been a Master Teacher to interns from Princeton Center for Teacher Education and West Side Montessori School for the past 4 years. Additionally, she is a certified Yoga teacher. Ms. Nancy’s classroom hums with activity and joy. She has been with us for the last 6 years.
Ms. Nisha holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from George Mason University. She is an AMS certified teacher from The Barrie School Institute of Advanced Montessori Studies. For the past 16 years, Ms. Nisha has worked with children whose ages range from 1 to 12 years old. Ms. Nisha has been a Montessori teacher for 7 years. She is constantly finding creative ways to teach children and enjoys working individually with them. Nisha is newly married, and has recently moved to New Jersey from Maryland.
Ms. Nivedita holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Mumbai, India. She has received her Montessori Certification (AMS) from West Side Montessori in New York. Ms. Nive has worked in our Montessori Primary program for seven years. She is passionate about working with the children in her classroom.
Ms. Rina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and earned her Montessori certification through AMI in Toronto, Canada. She has 9 years of teaching experience in Montessori schools as a lead teacher. She is dedicated to enthusiastic and dynamic teaching as a means of nurturing a lifelong love of knowledge in children.
Ms. Samira holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and did her Montessori training in Early Childhood Education Montessori Certification (AMS) at Princeton Center for Teacher Education. She has worked with children from preschool through middle school for 8 years as a lead teacher. Samira believes in the importance of being actively engaged with the children in both large and small groups. This is her fourth year at Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Yuliya has her Bachelor’s degree from Moscow State Linguistic University in Russia. She holds an AMI certification from The Montessori Training Center of Saint Louis, Missouri. Ms. Yuliya previously worked as a Montessori teacher in schools in Brooklyn, New York and Warsaw, Poland. She also has worked in the corporate sector in Moscow. She is fluent in English and Russian, and conversational in Polish. Ms. Yuliya has 10 years of teaching experience. She has been with us for 5 years.
Ms. Alia has her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Early Childhood Education from New Jersey City University. Ms. Alia comes with seven years of experience at Hudson Montessori School,and is continuing to assist in a Primary class. Ms. Alia also works as a teacher in our Summer Camp and in the aftercare program.
Ms. Angela is originally from Colombia. She has an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and has worked for the last 8 years teaching Spanish to children from nursery to Kindergarten in an international school in Brooklyn NY. Beginning in September, she will be working toward her Bachelor’s Degree at Kean University. Teaching in a classroom environment is one of the most fulfilling experiences Ms. Angela has had, and she is enthusiastic about nurturing children’s growth and development.
Ms. Betsy graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minors in both Latin American and Latino Studies and Justice and Families. Ms Betsy has worked with young children For thirteen years. In addition to her BA, Ms. Betsy also obtained her Post BA certificate and Masters degree in Child Advocacy and Policy.
Ms. Caridad graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in English Literature and minors in Italian Literature and Human Resources Management. She studied abroad in Italy for a year. Her passion for the field of education brought her to Hudson Montessori School, where she will be starting her fifth year as an assistant teacher.
Ms Daniella is an assistant teacher in a primary class, the Awake Room and out Aftercare Program. She has been in the education field since 2014. Daniella started as a Montessori Toddler Assistant in 2017 and proceeded to get her training for ages 3-6 at Princeton Center for Teacher Education.
Ms. Katrina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology specializing in Family, Health and Youth Services. She has her Associate’s degree in Elementary and Secondary Education. Ms. Katrina has worked in preschool and daycare settings as a Family Worker and a Teacher Assistant. She has 13 years of experience working at Hudson County Community College as a Disability Support Worker. She has obtained training from A. Harry Moore School providing care for children ages three to five with various disabilities.
Ms. Mahrukh is a graduate of McNair Academic High School and is about to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Child Development at Rutgers University. She hopes to be a school counselor and believes that working in a Montessori school has helped her become well-rounded in our educational environment. Ms. Mahrukh has worked in our aftercare programs, as a teacher in our Summer Camp and is returning for her fifth year as an assistant teacher.
Ms. Maricel has her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Kean University and is going to pursue a Masters in Early Childhood. She is multi-lingual in English, Spanish and Tagalog. She has four years of experience working with young children in different settings. Additionally, she volunteered for Jumpstart, a program that serves preschool students in under-resourced communities to prepare them for Kindergarten. She is excited to start with us this school year.
Ms. Shivani has a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s (MS) degree in Science from India. She has a Professional Certification from Rutgers University in Human Resources and two other certifications in HR. Ms. Shivani has 5 years of experience teaching 4th to 10th grades. This is her second year working in Hudson Montessori school.
Lower Elementary Program
Ms. Adinah graduated cum laude from Stony Brook University with a BA in Political Science and Public Policy. She was the social media director during a political campaign as an intern with a Philippine-American organization. Ms. Adinah is also a singer who has taught voice lessons to children in New York City. She completed her course work in AMS certification for Lower Elementary at Princeton Center for Teachers Education (PCTE). This is her fourth year at Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Gina A. has a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art in Graphic Design from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She has Lower Elementary AMS certification from Princeton Center for Teacher Education (PCTE). Ms. Gina has been a Montessori Lower Elementary lead teacher for the past 6 years. She also worked for 3 years in an Upper Elementary program. Ms. Gina began her primary education as a Montessori student herself and is excited to be a co-teacher in one of our Lower Elementary classrooms.
Ms. Leena is an AMS certified Montessori teacher in Lower Elementary, with over 9 years teaching experience. She is passionate about the Montessori philosophy and strongly believes in it. Her career began as a physician. She was trained at Baylor Hospital Medical Center, Dallas, Texas in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as an MD. When she decided to change her career, she followed Dr. Maria Montessori’s path from physician to educator. She loves to teach Lower Elementary students and is very proud to be a part of the Hudson Montessori community!
Ms. Shannon earned her Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education through a scholarship to Hudson County Community College. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at New Jersey City University, double-majoring in Early Childhood Education and Women’s and Gender Studies. Ms. Shannon has completed her course work in AMS certification for Lower Elementary at Princeton Center for Teacher Education (PCTE). This is her fifth year in our Lower Elementary Program.

Ms. Vidya holds a Masters in Modern Language and Literature (English) from India and worked as a copy editor for four years. During this period, she worked on scientific, technical and medical journals published by Elsevier in both the US and UK. Ms. Vidya was drawn to Montessori method of education when her son started his education at a Montessori school in India. Convinced that this method of education can make a positive and lasting change in younger minds, she joined Princeton Center for Teacher Training and is certified at lower elementary level. After training, she joined Hudson Montessori School as a lower elementary teacher. She is excited to be part of the Hudson Montessori School family.
Upper Elementary Program
Ms. Grace K. received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Seton Hall University. She has been part of the Montessori community for 14 years, first as a parent, and then teaching, assisting, and consulting with Montessori schools for 12 years. Ms. Grace earned her Montessori Elementary certification (AMS) from Princeton Center for Teacher Education. Her passion is creating successful academic experiences for her students. She is returning for her second year at Hudson Montessori in our Upper Elementary Program.
Ms. Stacey graduated from American University with a BA in Art History and a minor in Fine Arts. She has been teaching for more than 15 years. Her teaching experience has been in both public and private school settings where she has worked with various ages in traditional education as well as in Montessori. Ms. Stacey has Montessori certifications from Princeton Center for Teacher Education and Delaware Institute for Montessori Education for ages 3-12. She is a Field Consultant for the PCTE training program and holds the New Jersey Alternate Route Certification K-6. She has been trained in the Model United Nations Program for children. This is her fifth year at Hudson Montessori School.
Ms. Michelle V. continues her role as STEAM coordinator for Hudson Montessori School. Her background includes a Master’s Degree in Microbiology and certifications for Primary Montessori Teaching and has been trained in the Model United Nations Program. She is also certified in Computer Programming and Applications, and a Level I Credential for Montessori Applied to Children at Risk for Learning Differences (MACAR). Ms Michelle worked at the National Institute of Oceanography in Goa, India; Sanofi Aventis Pharmaceuticals, and was a researcher at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City . Ms. Michelle begins her eighth year with Hudson Montessori.
Ms. Grace S. is a certified K-8 education teacher who was employed by the Jersey City District Public Schools for eight years. Prior to joining Hudson Montessori, she was an Educational Technology, Math and Science teacher for middle school students. She holds a Master’s degree in Supervision and Administration in Education. In addition,
she was a Lego Robotics coach for many years and competed along with her students in statewide competitions. This is her fourth year working with our school implementing the STEAM curriculum. Ms. Grace has also been working these past summers as a teacher and camp coordinator in our Summer Maker’s Camp.
Ms. Marinela has a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy with a minor in Early Childhood Education from New Jersey City University. She has experience as a lead teacher in preschools and as an assistant teacher prior to that. Ms. Mari has also worked at a public elementary school in Jersey City as an in-class tutor for the America Reads Program and for the after school program. She has experience at a therapy clinic for children with learning disabilities as a group therapist assistant and as an administrative assistant. Ms. Mari joined Hudson Montessori School as a classroom assistant and has moved into assisting in out STEAM program.
Ms. Rholeda has been member of the Hudson Montessori community since 2013 with her 3 daughters attending the school. She earned a Fashion Design Certificate at New York School of Design and attended fashion design and construction courses at Parsons School of Design. Rholeda interned with Fashion Designer George Simonton and Meryl Diamond Limited. She has joined our technology team working with creative media
Ms. Clarissa holds a Master Degree in Entertainment Business and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Media Communication. She worked for Regnum Christi Volunteering Programme in Venezuela’s vulnerable areas providing specialized care for children. Additionally, Ms. Clarissa coordinated and produced different charity events to raise funds and benefit low income schools.
Ms. Nicole holds a Master of Science Degree in General and Special Education from Touro College in New York City and has been working with young children for over 14 years. A successful children’s artist, she has worked with The Art Studio NY, building their early childhood and school age curriculum for over four years. She has experience across a wide variety of curricula and has worked in both private and public school settings. Her specialty is working with mixed media and unconventional materials in new ways.
Foreign Language – Spanish
Ms. Lucrecia has a Bachelor’s in Translation from her native country, Peru. She is working towards her Master’s degree in Spanish. She has worked professionally for the Peruvian Air Force, translating from Spanish to French and vice versa. She was drawn to work with children and has over 20 years’ experience teaching Spanish to Toddlers, Elementary and High School students and adults.
Ms. Julissa is a New York based musician and Teaching Artist with over 16 years of experience. Her forte is drumming, percussion and voice. She believes music is the “key of life” and she is passionate about sharing the process of creating organized sound. Ms. Julissa holds a Bachelor’s in Marketing and Communications.
Tennis (ages 6 and up)
Mr. Jim is a certified PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) Instructor, ICI Certified Coach, and USTA rated 4.5/5.0 player, who has been involved in the tennis world for over 20 years. Educated in a variety of teaching methods both modern and traditional, Mr. Jim brings the experience to provide a singular teaching style that helps students learn and improve as quickly as possible. Mr. Jim has the knowledge and experience to create a lifelong love for tennis in our children.
Mr. Jim, who has an Etcheberry Certification for strength conditioning and movement, and who has been a USPTR (Professional Tennis Registry) instructor since 2003, will be holding PE classes for our Bridge Primary and Primary children. His years of experience, including five as an elementary school teacher, will help our children stay healthy and fit, especially during the winter months when outdoor activities are limited.
Ms. Yani is a nursing graduate from Trinitas School of Nursing. She holds a Bachelor of Science as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing through Chamberlain University. She has completed clinical work at Robert Wood Johnson Children’s Specialized Hospital and is immensely passionate about providing nursing care to children. Ms. Yani is an active member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and is currently completing her Master of Nursing (FNP). This is her third year working with Hudson Montessori.
Ms. Anjelica supervises Early Morning Care.
Ms. Alia and Ms. Eden supervise After Care Program.
Ms. Danuta works in the After Care Program at Hudson Montessori. She is bi-lingual in English and Polish and has been working with young children for the last eight years. This is Ms. Danuta’s seventh year at Hudson Montessori School.
