The Olympics 2015 – 2016
To mark the culmination of our study we hosted the Closing Ceremony of the Olympics. Each class featured the culture of the country they studied in depth. The evening also featured our first Jazz band and Choral performance by our Elementary students.
Social Studies Fair 2016 – Let The Games Begin!
As the world prepared for the Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, our HMS students hosted our very own Olympic Spectacle on April 30, 2016. Our Elementary students immersed themselves in the study of the ancient and modern Olympics and how they changed with the times. Meanwhile, our Primary students explored the countries that have been current, past or bidding host nations such as Brazil, Japan, USA, Russia, Greece, Finland and Morocco.
The event also included a carnival for more than 500 people held in Zeppelin Hall, the large event space adjacent to the school, which was fun for all ages. Food was featured from local Jersey City vendors, and activities included bounce houses, craft tables, face painting, photo booths, and a mix of sport stations that celebrate the 2016 Summer Olympics.
