On December 14, 2018, the Hudson Montessori Community gathered together in Zeppelin Hall to celebrate the spirit of the holidays! This year’s celebration was themed, “Holidays Around the World”, our Upper Elementary students gave a slideshow of cultural celebration of countries they are representing at the Montessori Model United Nations on February 2019. The students presented the holidays of Algeria, Israel, Niger, Philippines, and Bangladesh that included Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Youth Day, Yennayer, Pohela Boishakh, and Christmas. The Elementary Jazz Band kicked off the event, followed by the Kindergarten and Elementary Choruses. Parents and students also enjoyed visiting the Holiday Bazaar held in the Rathskeller. The bazaar featured home baked goods, handmade crafts, hot coffee and chocolate that all added to the holiday spirit.

Holiday Celebrations

We are thankful to all our HMS parents that visit our classrooms to share the holiday spirit. Students enjoyed the various presentations that included, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas. Our third graders presented a skit on the seven principles of Kwanzaa to the K- 6-grade students.

Community Service

What better way to spread joy and peace this holiday season than by giving back? Our students have written holiday cards for our overseas troops through the efforts of Mommies Heart to Heart. These letters will be sent with treats to lift the spirits of our United States military men and women abroad. Also, our elementary students made their monthly visit to Lutheran Senior Center, which is always filled with laughter and cheer. During this year, elementary students have performed stand-up comedy, walked the runway with a decades fashion show, and shared some holiday carols. This holiday season, our MMUN delegates donated toward The Department of Child Protection and Permanency through  B2B CDC; they collected duffel bags filled with toiletries for foster children.

On that note, we would like to wish you a Joyous Holiday. We look forward to an exciting New Year.
